The Keystone Research Center Annual Awards Dinner, June 12th 2008

Keystone Research Center has been ahead of its time in saying that, even in the age of globalization, the economy must support and not undercut families and communities and in showing exactly how to make that happen . . . I look forward to working with KRC and using its research to lead the country back to broadly shared prosperity.

Senator Robert P. Casey Jr.

Discussing the Future of Pennsylvania's Middle Class

Between the housing market crisis, rising gas prices, stagnant wages, and shrinking employment, times are hard and getting harder for many middle class Pennsylvanians. Is there anything that can be done? Who should do what? What should the role of state government be? What might the new Presidential administration in Washington do to foster economic growth that benefits the middle class?

Join the Keystone Research Center at its annual dinner on June 12 in Harrisburg featuring a panel discussion on policies that could restore middle class economic security by Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue Tom Wolf, acting Secretary of Labor Sandi Vito, and noted MIT economist Michael J. Piore.

The dinner will be held at the Hilton Harrisburg and will begin with a cash bar at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be served at approximately 7:00 pm.

Tickets are $100 per person. Tickets for a table of ten can be purchased for $900.

Presenting the Sol Hoffman Award Honoring Carolyn Dumaresq and the Rev. Paul Gehris

During the dinner KRC will also present its Sol Hoffman award. The award is given to individuals for outstanding service to KRC and to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Sol Hoffman award is given in memory of Sol Hoffman who was for many years a vice president of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and chair of its health care committee. He was a leader in building a dynamic and progressive labor movement in the state and served in many community organizations, including the Pennsylvania Human Relations Council, the Occupational industrial Council, the NAACP, ACLU, Red Cross and Urban Coalition.

A lifelong supporter of public education, he became a trustee of William Paterson College (now William Paterson University) in Wayne, New Jersey and eventually became Chairman of the Board. Sol Hoffman was one of the founders of the Keystone Research Center.

The Susan Eaton Award

Ms. Beverly Sims-Miller will receive the Susan Eaton Award given in memory of Susan C. Eaton, author of KRC's first major research publication.

The 2008 Keystone Research Center Awards Dinner will be held at the Hilton Harrisburg, One North Second Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, 17101-1601. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m.
