June 2, 2021 Contact: Jeff Garis, garis@pennbpc.org Forty-four Pennsylvania-based organizations send letter to state’s 18 U.S. representatives and Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey, urging congressional delegation support for Biden recovery plan Diverse array of groups calls on members of Congress to support and strengthen the president’s American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan Harrisburg, PA—Today, The 99% Pennsylvania campaign sent a letter to the 20 members of the state’s congressional delegation signed by 44 organizations, urging the federal lawmakers to support and strengthen President Joe Biden’s recovery agenda. The signing organizations include religious, labor, advocacy, and community groups. The organizations are calling on Congress to “move swiftly to build on the President’s proposals and craft recovery legislation that improves the health and economic security of families and works towards significantly reducing racial health, income, and housing disparities.” President Biden has proposed an ambitious two-part agenda—the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan—to make a once-in-a-generation investment in infrastructure and equity. The letter urges Pennsylvania’s 18 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey to make permanent the American Rescue Plan’s temporary expansions of the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit.
